eCare® - Wireless Elderly Care Management System

Description of Entry:
eCare® Wireless Elderly Care Management System is a web-based system that runs under the ASP model, serving over 100 residential care homes in Hong Kong. It aims to reduce administrative workload of frontline caregivers and enhance data accuracy, reducing errors and thus providing caregivers more time for focusing on caring for the residents in the care homes.

eCare® is designed to facilitate routine operations, data centralizations, management, statistics and analysis. It contains assessment tools (MDS-HC standard), Individual Care Plans (ICPs), reports, statistics, and drug lists etc. The system has open interface to connect with outside systems such as community pharmacies, CRMs, accounting systems etc. It can connect with wireless mobile healthcare devices to enable mobile care management.

eCare® is for monthly subscription with a small fee per resident and the system is open for users’ review with constant free updates. Using a web-based system allows residential care homes to save resources for managing and purchasing their own IT systems.

eCare® is developed by a team of youths from different sectors who were not initially trained as programmers but later developed their interest in programming. They became professional system developers under the training of Caritas I.T. Advancement Centre, Caritas Hong Kong.

The solution offers a comprehensive and user-friendly healthcare management system for residential care services for the elderly at a reasonable price. It is a role model of using ICT in healthcare industry for smart ageing.
