Description

Cloud Building OS (CBOS) is developed by MEGA Automation Limited, providing a one-stop core platform for cloud-based smart building applications. This platform integrates the Internet of Things (IoT), Building Management Systems (BMS), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create smart building applications through a modular design.

This project utilized CBOS to help the Lee Woo Sing College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, establish a smart hostel and facility management system. Through the installation of smart meters and IoT control systems in hostel rooms, remote management of equipment such as lighting, air conditioning, and socket outlets is achieved. This not only reduces the operational and maintenance costs of hostel management but also enhances the user experience for occupants. Users can easily manage accommodation needs via a mobile App, including topping up e-wallets, recharging electricity usage for their rooms, and activating appliances like washing machines. Concurrently, the system assists the management office in improving efficiency by streamlining the settlement and administrative processes for batch check-ins and check-outs.

Furthermore, CBOS incorporates a Thermal Comfort Model and a Chiller Plant Optimization model, resulting in significant energy savings. The system also supports extended application functions, such as Digital Twin and Energy Management, further elevating the level of building intelligence.

Comments from Judging Panel

The judges recognize that integrating automation technology within facilities holds tremendous potential to elevate the quality of life for all occupants. This innovative solution offers a comprehensive and dynamic approach, fostering enhanced interaction between individuals and building amenities. Its scalability and adaptability enable it to meet diverse needs while creating a more engaging and responsive environment. By managing student living spaces, the system optimizes electricity consumption, promoting energy efficiency and reducing operational costs. It maximizes facility utilization by aligning space usage with real-time demand and simplifies resident access through support for multiple electronic payment methods. Ultimately, this automation technology not only drives significant improvements in operational effectiveness but also cultivates a connected, enjoyable, and user-centric living experience.
