Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has fuelled the economy, business and individuals with unlimited potentials for growth and development. With the concerted effort of the ICT industry, academia, the Government, and our community at large, Hong Kong has always been able to reap the benefits of ICT.

Since 2006, the Hong Kong ICT Awards have been developed under such collaborative effort to become one of the most renowned events of the ICT industry. In its sixth consecutive year, the Awards continue to receive tremendous support and participation from different sectors, showcasing their sterling work.

Over the years, the Awards have grown in scale and established reputation. Riding on this platform, many of our past winners have moved beyond Hong Kong, gained further recognition overseas and expanded into the global markets including the Mainlandís.

I wish to express my gratitude to my fellow Steering Committee members, members of Grand Judging Panel, Standards Assurance Sub-committee and Promotion and Sponsorship Sub-committee, Organising Committee, the ten Leading Organisers, and all the judges for their vigorous support, effort and contribution. Last but not least, my warmest congratulations to all winners of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2012 for your great achievements and heart-felt thanks to all others who participated in the competition. All are indeed winners for Hong Kong.

Message from Professor Tony F Chan, JP
President
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

I am honored as President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to say a few words in tribute to ICT professionals. At every level, and in every sphere of human activity, nothing equals ICT for its power of penetration. It is everywhere in our lives and everywhere in the world, enhancing human capability and transforming human communication, from broadcasting to personal messaging.

ICT professionals are technologically innovative people with a keen sense of social and environmental responsibility. They are the driving force of progress in the Information Age.

The different categories of award amply reflect ICT's multifaceted contributions to modern life and society. I wish to congratulate members of the Organizing Committee and the Steering Committee, as well as the panel of judges, for making this glittering event a success. And I further congratulate the awardees for their meritorious performance that demonstrates ICTís relevance and importance to our community. Together, we will take Hong Kong to its next stage of development as a knowledge-based economy.
